At the 2005 Botanical Medicine in Clinical Practice at Columbia University I had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Andrew Weil, who I admire greatly for helping create the field of integrative medicine that combines alternative medicine and conventional medicine. Dr. Weil focuses on achieving wellness through natural methods and educates the public on alternative therapies. He believes in the power and efficacy of
hypnosis for making positive changes, and has a prominent clinical
hypnotherapist on staff at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, that he founded and directs. Dr. Weil has done a tremendous amount to bring this orientation to the attention of the general public with his books, including
Spontaneous Healing, 8 Weeks to Optimum Health, and Healthy Aging. Like me, he believes that proper nutrition,
exercise and
stress reduction are essential to leading a healthy and fulfilling life.
